Not so simple. I could easily gut one of my rumble controllers and program it to rumble continuously while I held down the trigger.

But if you go to an arcade that still has T2, you'll notice that the shaking of the guns is in perfect sync with its respective sound effects in the game.

When the gun overheats or runs low on ammo the rate of fire slows down, and so does the kicking of the gun.

Isn't the whole point of the Mame project supposed to be the documention of the hardware and software of these games? So why not "document" the force-feedback features of these games as well?

: The recoil is simple for T2. Just make it turn on whenever the trigger is pressed. Recoil is always present when firing so it dosnt matter if the game tells it to recoil. In fact, Im not sure the game did.

: The thump was provided by a pinball coil I believe... using a spring (for return) and a rubber stopper where it hit.

: : The guns, as well as my cabinet itself, will be built from scratch, probably using the MS Sidewinder Dual Strike controller's guts. The control already aims like a gun, and feels very natural in T2 or even Star Wars. Very accurate. I'll have to add a rumble pack separately, just don't know how to get that recoil signal from T2 in Mame...

: : : The Termenator 2 guns are monted on the control panel. Since they are analog, it can be interfaced to the joystick port.

: : : : how are you going to interface the guns to your pc?
