i decided to make up a prototype of my layout before making a "real" panel. i just put one stick and 4 buttons into a small piece of plywood and hooked it up to a gamepad hack. the gamepad pcb is just screwed to the top of the plywood. i've decided i like it ok, but i need the buttons further from the edge. it's been a couple months since i wired that up (took about 2 hours from drilling the holes to finished product) and i'm still using that as i think through the design of the cabinet.
speaking of cabinet, i think i'm going to pick one or two up tonight with monitors. wish me luck y'all.
