I also have converted an arcade steering wheel to be used with an Opti-Pac. You can see the documentation here of the conversion. It really didn't take much work. A little bit of soldering is required, though. A more expensive route would be to order a Happ's optical interface, but then you wouldn't have to solder the optical board as I did in my example.
