: So basically the D9200 has all the bells and whistles of today's PC monitors that have various OSD functions?
Yes
: I'm still wondering why it is *so* much cheaper over the smaller 19" U-series tubes - can someone shed some light on this?
Probably because of the new digital circuits it uses much less and less expensive pars, just a guess ;-)
: I too found that a VGA display with MAME's scanlines option looked authentic enough for me, considering that I really want to be able to run other emulators if need be - i'm way into Visual Pinball/PinMAME right now as well...a 27" display would go far in making video pinball more playable!
I prefer the hardware scanlines that you can get with advance mame for newer games and advance mame's filter option at double the original res for older games.
: The D-series are total plug in and work monitors? What special considerations (if any) should I be looking at for a video card? Which models now still have exceptional 2D rendering speed and sharp display output? I don't think that 3D gaming would be used on my box, so the GeForce and the like probably would never see any 3D work at all!
You will need the 3d for visual pinball :-)
