Ahhhh... I would beg to differ.

I just moved up from AMD K6-2 450 to Duron 800 (and in the process, also switched from Gigabyte GA-5AX to Asus A7A266). It was a very nice feeling to get most of my favorite games working at a proper speed and smoothness. These include many games by Williams and Namco, such as Strike Force, Total Carnage, Smash TV, Assault, Rolling Thunder, Dragon Sabre, Splatterhouse, Dangerous Seed etc.

I don't play the infamous CPU hogs - Galaxy Fight, STUN Runner, Hard Driving, Street Fighter the Movie. Considering that the Mortal Kombat series need even more speed to run smoothly, well, maybe you want to go at least this high. Or if you can get a cheap Duron of 750 MHz or less used, overclock it.
