I use original gutted cabinets - galaga,tempest,and space duel so far - WITHOUT chopping them up. I also 'finger' my control panels to fit the cabinet and the only intrusion to the original cab is a couple of screws on the inside - under where the original control panel would be. You dont have to destroy an original cabinet to use it. Just 'retro'fit it with mame stuff non-intrusively.
actually , I did cut up my Galaga cabinet but that was because it was painted black, had lots of water damage, and was basically a salvage operation. I think anyone else would have chunked it.

: I have looked since Febuary for am arcade cab(empty) in Mississauga/Toronto and i cant find shit. If i dont find one before the end of this month im gonna have to give up.
