I recomend you waiting until processors at 2ghz or even 3ghz appear in the market. At this moment, a 1.5ghz may be enought to have perfect performance in all games, but I'm sure future versions of MAME will run games (the games already emulated and new ones) with much more hardware requirements. So if you buy a 1.5ghz computer now, all games will run well, but they will begin to loose fps with new versions of MAME. It has always happened this way. Moreover, there are many hardware that is is still not emulated, and that will require much more than 1.5ghz. It's a normal thing: games poorly emulated need cpu power to solve the problem. And get ready for 3D. When MAME emulates 3D games, there will not be support for 3d apis and 3d cards: everything will be done by software and with the power of the cpu. So, I wonder that emulating SEGA model1, model2, model3 with MAME would require more than 10ghz.
