High-Ball Trackball?

While poking around on the Happ site today I noticed a new "High-Ball" style 3" trackball. It supposedly raises the ball up out of the panel a bit more than the standard trackball. It sounds like a good idea, but I wonder about reliability. Anybody try/buy/love/hate these?
