It may the laptops internal video circutry.

It may remember the monitor and resolution used for the external monitor (if it is plug and play). If it sees its different, it may default to internal LCD (for monitor safety about frequency and resolutions) from taking it from place to place.

Here is what I suggest:

1) Connect your laptop to your cabinet

2) Boot up on the laptop LCD screen

3) Press the special key that switches displays (often involves pressing the "FN" key and one of the function keys). You may have to press it more than once.

4) load the Arcade Frontend/MAME program.

5) Restarting should now start up to the cabinet monitor.

: i have i laptop connected to my cabinet,but when i startup in dos, the image just appears on my laptopscreen and not on my cabinet!
: when i connect a external computer monitor to my laptop,and startup the image directly appears on the external monitor,so what's the difference???
: (i want to get rid of that big ugly computer-monitor!)
