This is painful.....what to do?

Well, it has taken me almost a year to find a arcade cab to build into a MAME cab. After asking many people
if they knew anyone that could get me a cab cheap, I finally found one for free. The painful part is it is a old star wars cab. All I've been told so far is just the monitor is shot. I have no idea of the condition it is in (from what I hear, it is in good working shape, except for the monitor). The question is, do
I just swap the monitor and restore it, or *gasp* convert it to a mame cab. For some reason, I feel gutting this cab and changing it is some form of sin.
I must see firsthand what shape it is in first before I truly make a decision.
