: One use was most likely desktop publishing so you could see a whole page at a time (before color monitors got up to that resolution).

: : Just the information I was looking for. MACs are such graphics intensive computers, why use such a monitor with them?

That is exactly the reason. TPD-19 == Two Page Display 19"
One can view two full pages of text side by side for desktop publishing.
At the time (1990) giant color displays were practically unheard of even in big business, let alone home use. This is back when the Apple 13" monitor ($800) was king.

In 1993 I bought my first 20" Radius color monitor along with a video card that would drive it at 1152x882@75Hz at 24-bit color. Total cost... $2000. !!YOW!!

I picked up my pair of TPD-19 monitors for $30 each from eBay. The old Mac they are hooked up to is the gateway/router to the internet for the rest of my home network. Doesnt need to display much for graphics, just alot of Modem, packet transfer and DNS logs. :)
