: are you asking about a 8-way / 4-way switch (for games like donkey kong that don't like diagonals)?

: or are you talking that the joystick would rotate for games like Q-Bert?

: The first question: Some joysticks can do it... but not without taking it apart and messing with it under the hood. I am considering creating some 'templets' that I would put on top of control panel (under the round plastic disk at the bottom of a joystick) that would only allow the joystick in some positions. I've made some thought about it... but it will probably be cheaper and work better just to purchase a 4-way joystick and add to my cab.

: Seconds Question: If so I would love to know about it (especially if I get a dedicated 4-way joystick). But you really need the joystick mounted tight, so mounting it on a rotatable base might not work well.

I am going more the route of a regular 8/4 way joystick that fits into the control panel in such a way that you could rotate the controller 45 degrees for games like qbert. I saw this on a page once and I have been sort of mulling over ways to make it work. If anyone has any ideas...I am fairly handy with autocad so I am working on designing some up.
