Its true that JoyEmu is DOS, but when running under Windows it may also be fooled by your Direct Pad Program. It could work depending on your method of loading games. I don't know of anything that automatically changes its configurations based on the program loaded, but if you were using a more flexible front end than Mame32 that allows you to select the file loaded with each game, you could have it load a batch file which then activates/deactivates your Joystick/keyboard program as needed. That might be a lot of work and batch files though, heh...

: and now i'm going to say.. 'but isn't that a DOS program?'.. DOS joystick apps are typically only good for stuff connected to the joystick port.. i'm using a parallel port hack (much like how SNES or PSX pads are typically connected to a PC). Direct Pad Pro is already 'tricking' all other windows apps into thinking it is a regular joystick so now almost any windows utils will do for the stick remapping. but the main thing here is that i can somehow disable the remapping when, say, mame.exe is running (or maybe enable when explorer.exe or whatever has the focus).. since i don't want keypresses involved when i'm playing games! :) i haven't seen anything like this around.. i've been looking for a long time. the purpose of the remapping is mainly scrolling through a gamelist in a frontend or MAME32. anyone have a similar setup.. or know what would be useful for this? thanks! :)

: : I use JoyEmu to make my Sidewinder control send keyboard strokes. Now I know you're going to say "but doesn't the Sidewinder do that anyway?". Yes, but only the buttons, not the directional keys, and the JoyEmu program lets you program 2 SHIFT keys (holding a certain button changes the functions of all other buttons) which lets that little game pad do about everything you could want, including all the admin stuff...

: : But to the point. Check the downloads section of this web site (BYOAC) for what you need... :P

: : : Anyone know of a program for remapping the mouse and/or keyboard to the joystick with a joystick (properly configured in control panel gaming options) that can be put on hold when certain exe's are run (i.e. stop giving mouse/key commands through the joystick when mame.exe is running).. my controls (parallel port interface) are working great through direct pad pro in all the emulators i use.. now if i can just start the games up with them and lose the keyboard and mouse :) any ideas?
