OK, this is strickly mame related. Sorry that there is no connection with the faq, but it is so hard to get any kind of serious response from any of the other boards.

Here's my problem:

The first time I run Disks of Tron (environmental) it works fine. The second time it runs but with no sound. The third time and from there on it will not run until I delete my hiscore file (dotrone.hi)

I have similar problems with all the Tron games and clones. It took me forever to isolate the problem to the .hi file. I scanned for viruses and even wiped my drive and reinstalled Windows 98 before I figured out what the culprit was. Ugh!!

Could a few of you try running Disks of Tron (environmental) three times in a row and let me know your results? I am trying to figure out if it is a problem wih my machine or with mame. I suspect mame36b8 is spitting out corrupt .hi files for some games, because 35final works fine.

Forunately I have a work-around. I copied the .hi file from dig dug and renamed it dotrone.hi. Then I set the file to be read-only. This eliminates high score saving for the game, but since mame cannot write a new corrupt .hi file over the existing read-only file the game continues to be playable.

Thanks in advance for performing this test (if you do)
