I have limited experience with amame....but here is my experience...
mv...if the box is too big and it goes out of range and it is still too big just give up. Sometimes when the picture seems folded or a bit out of sync it will come back...just try until you either get it or go out of range. Only use the modes that fit the screen....I use a few that are just a bit to big....
I would test all available modes and use whatever fits....
I had trouble with some vertical modes crashing...I just noted which mode was crashing (from the red error box in aos} and disabled that mode in mv....did the trick.
Amame is really worth the extra effort if you are using an arcade monitor...the vertical games on a horizontal monitor are GREATLY improved...
