I just figured this out last night from a previous post on this board :)
You need to delete all the modes that are text - they are all vgaline 1 or 3 I believe. Works like a charm.
From my experience with mv - if the mode doesn't work it just doesn't. Give up :) If you've only got a couple modes working than I think something is wrong...
I would try and get 8bit modes working as well. Forcing a game to run in 16 when it's only 8 bit native might result in a slowdown but don't quote me on that.
I haven't had any problems with the 1+2 esc not working.
