Emus other than MAME on an arcade monitor.....

I hava a cabinet with an arcade monitro and am useing arcadeOS. I downloaded the .app files to run emulators like nesticle and kgen98, but I can't seem to get these games to run on an arcade monitor - even worse I seemed to have damaged my monitor a bit in the process of trying to get this crap going. What is the best way to get emulators to run on an arcade monitor (doesn't matter what frontend)
