This is a very common problem men customers complain about, but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely a UTILITIES & ENTERTAINMENT program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and designed by it's creator to run everything. rdinarily, Wife 1.0 assumes full COMMAND control of the computer, and commands submitted by the user may be ignored if they do not satisfy ompatibility with the underlying command structure of Wife 1.0. It is unlikely you would be able to uninstall the Wife 1.0 OS and still convert back to the earlier Girlfriend 7.0 OS without hidden file destruction and general system failure. Hidden operating system files within your storage system would cause Girlfriend 7.0 to attempt to emulate Wife 1.0, but with unsatisfactory results, so nothing is gained. It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or otherwise purge the offensive program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 will not allow itself to be
overwritten by Girlfriend 7.0 files and it is inherently not designed to accept this mode.
Some users have tried to upgrade and install Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than the original system. Look in your manual under "Warnings: Child-program support".
recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and work around the periodic crashes and other system disruptions. It may prove to be a less expensive solution than upgrading to a later version.
General experience with upgrade programs such as the irlfriend 8.0 OS or the Wife 2.0 OS has proven to yield an entirely different set of COMMAND interactions, leading to system crashes. it is recommended that, prior to upgrading to a later OS, the child files be allowed to migrate elsewhere thereby causing less problems with support demands after upgrade.
I suggest installing the general purpose background application program C:\YES_DEAR to alleviate software augmentation. Having installed Wife 1.0 myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General_Partnership_Faults (GPFs). You must assume
all responsibility for faults, error traps and related maintenance problems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command C:\APOLOGIZE. In any case avoid excessive use of the C:\YES_DEAR command because ultimately you may have to give the APOLOGIZE command before the operating system will return to normal. The system will run smoothly as long as you take responsibility for all the GPFs. Wife 1.0 is a great program, but very high-maintenance. Consider
buying additional software to improve the self-supporting performance of Wife 1.0. I recommend Flowers 3.1 and Diamonds-2001 as alternate, albeit temporary, solutions to impending system failures. Do not, under any circumstances install an older version of the Wife 1.0 with the newer Wife 1.1 version, because fundamental imcompatibility of file recognition may occur at the most inoportune moment. We caution that Secretary ver. 3.3 will absolutely not function
properly with Wife 1.0. This is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and the logic is entirely incompatible. As a result it is likely to cause irreversible damage to the operating system due to competition for available resources.
In the event these conditions cannot be resolved, it is recommended that all operating systems now in use and attempted upgrades simply be set aside. Go back to the basic mode, using your DOS system. Don't complicate your situation by re-installing super-controlling operating systems such as Girlfriend ver. 1-8 or Wife ver. 1-7. We have found that bare bones operation, without an operating system, allows system operating to be handled without COMMAND interaction and file confusion.
Best of Luck,
