then you could use a double-pole-single-throw switch to disconnect them -- or a headphone jack/plug. you would need to use something like a parallel printer cable instead of the cat 5. for my gamepad hack i needed 6 wires for the joystick and 5 for the buttons. (the buttons used a common ground). having them (the 11 wires) coming out of the gampad and hooked up to a controller might make using the gamepad less fun.
