I only wanted to disconnect a max of 2 wires. All of the others will be on for good.

: i used cat-5 wire too. since there's 8 strands in it, a little goes a long way.

: basically, you start at the contacts inside the gamepad for the buttons, and follow the traces back to a point where there is exposed solder. that's either a hole through the board, or a point where there is something else connected to it (sometimes the wire that leaves the device). use a 15 watt pencil iron. tin the wires first, and don't leave the iron on the board for very long.

: i took me about an hour to strip, tin, and solder wires to my gamepad. it took about another hour to "debug" it -- i had a couple wires soldered to incorrect points. you will want to label the wires as you attach them so you will know how to hook them up later...

: it would take at least twice as long if you wanted to make some sort of disconnect so you would still be able to use the gamepad. i would suggest getting a cheap gamepad instead.
