Just got my $4.00 trackballs. They are heavy and built to last, but....they spin less than 1/4 turn each time I rotate them (independent of the amount of effort used to spin them).
I opened them up, cleaned them up, and still they roll very very little.
My performance may not be indicative of the ones you get, as evidenced by some of the other messages on the board, but these are not going to find a place on my machine.
