So the previous posters who said they got MAME every final definitely had a good reason for using it as a stopping point. So stop bashing these people for asking about a final release!

: They do spend more effort to fix existing bugs for a final release. Often they put a hold on adding new games as well, unless they are already supported by an existing driver.

: : I am willing to bet that there is a difference in testing and completeness b/w the *final* release and any *beta* release. Anyone know for sure??

: : : If the beta releases are NO BETTER, NO MORE STABLE or complete than ANY beta version, why bother ever calling it a *final* release?? I seem to recall the final releases are a bit more stable and have been tested a great deal more. Am I wrong?? It seems that in the past, beta releases tended to break a lot of games but the final releases had most of the obvious ones fixed.

: : : : : At least for me, I like to burn each final release onto disks and archive them. Then I tend to not keep up with the next batch of games until maybe 8 months down the road. I'm sure many people are doing the same thing.

: : : : Just burn what you have, and wait 8 months before doing it again.
