I think a good compromise is to get a Leaf style joystick (8way). It will be a lot more forgiving than an 8way microswitch. I have no problems playing 4way games on an 8way Leaf style.
I use both Happs Supers and Wico Leafs and think the Wico's are the way to go if you were only to have one joystick... It depends on what games you play, the Leafs take more effort

: I read alot of posts with people asking about switching their 8-way stick to 4-way for Donkey Kong etc. Is it really that much of a pain to play a 4-way game on an 8-way stick? You're basically doing the same thing with your 8-way game pad and it doesn't bother me...

: Also, there are only 4 switches regardless of the stick type, the only "conversion" is just a piece of plastic on the base of the stick that prevents diagonal movement, right?

: I just want a stick setup (8-way) that will work fine with everything. I don't want to go opening my controller up every time I play Donkey Kong etc.

: Thanx - Cryo
