I had the same prob with my silverline cab.
It seems that a bi directional metal bit (what i tried first) starts to over heat the metal and in my case the drill. You could try drilling lots of smaller hols and then punch them out or take your panel to a sheet metal works like i did. They bent the metal and punched new holes for me for 15 pounds.
