I've run into that problem with Mame32 before. What I did was got the default settings so they were perfect, and then set mame.cfg in the config folder to be read only. This will keep the same default config and still allow you to map individual game settings as needed.

: Its been a while since I have been on here, but I now have a baby girl and she is taking up a lot of my time. I also just atarted a new job and am building a house. So the little bit of remaining time I have left is spent working on machine and my wife for that matter haha. Well I have my machine in beta mode right now. The first control panel is complete and I am running games using MAME32. The machine feels great. I do have a question though. My general system settings are resetting when I log off my computer and come back the next day and turn it on. Am I missing something? It sucks remapping my two sticks and 14 buttons. My game specific settings stay intact though. Any help is appreciated.
