I have a system in my entertainment center that I use for console games. It's a PII-450 with an old ATI all-in-wonder in a desktop case, running win98 & emulators for NES, SNES, Genesis, and PSX. I have 4 front mounted USB ports for game controllers. I use USB gamepad pros. I run the Svideo from the ATI board to a 32" tv, and have no complaints about image quality in the emulators.

I originally thought I would use my arcade cabinet for the other emulators, but it's more authentic this way.

Games were an afterthought on this machine. It started as an MP3 Jukebox, then I upgraded it so it could play mpeg/VCD, Divx, and now DVD. I'm slowly converting all of my VHS media to VCD or Divx to both preserve it and save lots of space, and needed something to play the cds with.

If you're thinking about building one just to play games, you should also think about what else you can do with a system thats running through your TV and your stereo.
