The speakers you bought at K-Mart are probably the most prolific of any 'amplified computer speakers' ever made. You can find them nearly everywhere.

There are minor differences between designs, but they all share a few things in common.

They all contain those funky 'not quite oval' speakers. They all have ported enclosers (for extra bass i guess), all labled CE Made in China, and the majority have '691' somewhere in their model number. (m691, 691C, 691X, etc..)

I have 4 sets of these speakers here in my basement, which I have aquired 'free' with purchases of various bits of computer hardware. (I dont use them, I prefer my 40W Sony sub-sat). All are slightly different from each other, yet essentially the same thing.

One has an AC wall wart (rectifier is internal to the speaker), two have DC wall warts (one is detachable, the other is permanently wired), and one runs full 120vac to the speaker (transformer must be inside). Yet they are all essentially the same speaker systems.

If you hunt around a bit, you can find these speakers for under $5 !! Ive seen them in MCM and PartsExpress 'clearance' flyers for as low as $3.99 ($2.99 in bulk)

This could quickly reduce the price of the MAFIA.
Of course, Guido and Enzio might have to come break your kneecaps if you went cheap on them. :)
