I was trying to disassemble some similar lighted pushbuttons for cleaning (oversized round buttons) Basically, you have to wait until you get very Pi**ed off, then grasp the threaded end in one hand and wrap your fingers on your other hand around the lens cap and "pull and wiggle" until that Bas**rd pops off:-)
