: Doing more thinking... I think its best not to rotate a monitor vertically, but to do it horizontally. Instead of the monitor facing you, it faces the ceiling - and is directed to you via a mirror. THis method would make rotating devices a lot easier to build... and would put less stress on the monitor itself.
Whenever you look at anything in a mirror, the light has to travel to the mirror, then you. That
will make it feel/look like it's farther away than usual. Plus if the monitor rotates, then either the mirror will have to rotate also, or be bigger than the monitor to accomodate the vertical picture from the rotated monitor. It would feel weird, I think. Though I guess if you're mounting this inside a cabinet, then the extra surface of the oversized mirror would reflect darkness and just be black, sorta like a bezel... And maybe a cardboard bezel of sorts can be apply to the mirror.
I know it's been done in some arcade games before so maybe it won't feel too weird. 6 player x-men cabs did this to one monitor for some reason. Some shooting games (rifle for the gun) use mirrors to acheive depth/distance. Guess it's just how you position the monitor and mirror...
Interesting.
