I picked up 2 nos Wico topfire joysticks...they are 8-way, sturdy and much better than the "claw game" topfire sticks sold today. These sticks have been in the box for like 17 years...no idea if they still make them.
It shouldn't be too tough to mount a spinner "disk" to the bottom of the shaft...they might not spin quite as nicely as the genuine spinning joys...but having the topfire button will offset that.
A bit of custom work mounting the optics, but I think they will work very nicely.
I may only use one of these...right joystick...not sure why I would need 2 topfire sticks...
Time will tell.
