no sound from certain emulators. ex: rocknes and kgen

Rocknes and Kgen and ZSnes have both stopped producing sound. I checked for all of the usual. all turned on. in Zsnes if you enable the sound it will not play the rom. all of my other sound playing programs work though. ex: mame , neorage ,32x. and so on.
Is there a bug with my programs or should I ... i dunno any help please?? thanx :')
