Hello,

No, I am booting directly to Win98 command prompt running ArcadeOS. I have the BOOTGUI=0 set and can run the WIN command after exiting ArcadeOS. The Optimouse diag does show both running, it's just that when DOS mame launches it only uses the trackball. The spinner is not responsive. It is unusual that when I run EDIT to edit text files in DOS that the trackball and spinner both work with it's cursor, and the spinner is even given it's own cursor, but when I launch Arkanoid or Tron from a command line I get no response from the spinner. I am having to run those games from Mame32 in the 98 GUI and they work. I am at a loss to determine why this is since other DOS apps seem to have access to the device. I had not considered that the secondary was for player 2 only, however when I reverse them I seem not to have trackball control for ArcadeOS, although the spinner does work in Mame as the primary.

:
: First: MAME 0.37b11 and later support the Optimouse drivers.

: Are you loading DOS MAME through Windows? If so, then the following may pertain to your problem. It was taken from the Optimouse readme file.

: "Windows seems to like to init all pointing devices so they all operate together
: this isn't good news as our extended mouse driver will have no mouse available.
: Under Windows please make sure you don't plug the secondary mouse until it has
: totally finished loading once loaded plug in the secondary mouse windows shouldn't
: know about, if moving it makes the pointer move you've done something wrong!"

: So, if moving both mice in Windows works, then it won't work correctly in MAME as a secondary mouse in the manner that you want.

: Note: Using the Optimouse driver makes the secondary mouse usable by Player 2, so it sounds like you want your trackball for P1, and spinner for P2.
