I've seen sets with contrast cranked up that permanently display the viewers favorite station's logo ("CNN" for example). No matter what station you had it on, you could see the ghost image.
It's not as common on direct view TV's as it is on RPTV's, but with a very high contrast it is possible.
I would imagine that this would be even worse with a video game.
If you have a DVD drive on your PC, you might try picking up a copy of "Video Essentials" or a similar disc with test patterns. Adjust your TV using this (as a starting point). Give it a few days, and then if you still dont like it, you can tweak it to your hearts content.
