If it bothers you, just spam-proof your address. Like, "mysheepaddress@myserver.com" with a .sig saying "Remove 'sheep' to mail me."
There are e-mail harvesting tools to collect addresses from threaded groups by automatically sifting every message. Personally, I just have one account for public consumption, and it's not too bothersome to filter the spam, even though I've been using it publicly on USENET and the Net for about four years.
