This is where design gets funky.
You have to decide, at what point do you stop adding items, and go on to the next panel.

If I had no monitary limits....this would be my dream-multi-panel system.

Panel 1: (2 player)
8-way stick, rotary 8-way stick, 6 buttons for each side and a center Trackball.
This covers the majority of fighting games, scrolling shooters, shooters with rotary sticks, dual-stick games and trackball games.

Panel 2: (1 player)
Trigger stick with thumb button, push-pull spinner and 4 buttons.
This covers most stick/spinner and spinner/button combinations. Tempest, Tron, Zwackery, Omega Race, StarTrek, etc..

Panel 3: (1 player)
Two trigger sticks with thumb buttons and starwars yoke.
All tank games and yoke driven games.

Panel 4: (1 player)
Steering wheel, 4 speed shifter, clutch, brake, throttle.
(foot controls could stay connected all the time, no need to remove them)
This to cover all driving games.

Panel 5: (1 player)
Operation Wolf machine gun mount.
Which should cover most non-optical gun games.

--------------------------------------------------

The panel I am making is somewhere between Panel 1 and Panel 2. Trying to cover the most games in a single massive panel. (36" by 17")
