Shouldn't be a problem to go that route. I didn't dig around too deeply into the HotRod wiring, but it appeared that the encoder had several plug in style terminal connectors. Not sure how they routed the ground wiring, but worst case you could buy some wire and crimp style terminal connectors from Radio Shack and inside of 30 minutes have the whole thing rewired. (Just to clarify, I sent back the HotRodSE and built a panel from scratch...) If you want some pictures or more details let me know and I'll email them along. Andy from IPac was great to deal with and very helpful and responsive. (Unlike Hanaho...)
