I have three grand-children plus myself that play on mine. So, I didn't go the swappable control panel route (I didn't want and 6, 8 or 11 year old swapping a panel). I needed a lot of room so as much "stuff" as possible could be put on at once.

My control panel is a 38.5" circle. It is cut flat on one side so that it is 26.5" (same width as my cabinet). It is set even with the bottom edge of the glass on an old NBA JAM cabinet.

I have 4 LS-30 joysticks (have to order Druin's interface). These are set so 4 players can play at once or 2 players can play games like Smash-TV (dual joystick style). Players 1 and 2 have 7 buttons. Players 3 and 4 have 3 buttons. Player 1 and 2 each have their own trackball. All 4 players have their own spinner. 1 and 2 are forgotten world pust to fire and 3 and 4 are arkanoid.

Everything fits fairly comfortably. I didn't get the spacing quite right the first time, but I intend to move everything a little to give more room for the spinners. It's is amazing how much an inch this way or that can make.
