What was the problem with your failed attempts?

Did you mean you need to use the analog stick? or you only wanted to use the D-pad and a couple of the face buttons on the N64 controller? I'm guessing Dr. Mario 64 doesn't need the analog stick.

I don't think you'll be able to stick a N64 controller pcb into a NES controller shell. Probably the most straighforward way to make a NES-style controller for the N64 would be to wire all the NES controller connections to corresponding N64 controller connections. If this worked, you'd end up with a NES controller with a bunch of wires coming out if it leading to the N64 controller pcb.

Hm, there isn't any NES or SNES to N64 controller adapter? Seems like there should be, since there's similar convertors for the Dreamcast.

Maybe there's a 3rd party N64 controller that's smaller than the original one?

: Hello,

: I am trying to make a customized controller for the N64 system.

: My brother is handicapped and finds it hard to use the standard controller for the N64 because of it's weight and bulk. I'd like to remove the analog stick, C buttons, L/R buttons and trigger from the N64 controller and repackage it in the shell of a standard NES controller. (A smaller squarish controller from the old 8 bit system) This would leave only the Direction pad, A/B buttons and the start button which is all of the functionality he needs to play "Dr. Mario 64".

: I have ruined two controllers trying to do this myself. Does anyone want to try this sort of thing? I'd be happy to pay for labor/parts/etc...

: I'm pretty much stuck so any leads would be great as well.

: thanks again,
: -John Colosi
