We had a prog on TV here in UK recently about the early video games industry. As far as I remember - I, too, have been drinking at a friends 30th Birthday bash, so be warned :) - the guy who invented Space Invaders got the idea from Battle Ships. He wanted to do an electronic version where the enemies could fire back (I think). The Pac-Man guy got the idea from some Japanese fairey tale - he found the actual Pac-Man character after taking a slice from a pizza!

Also, on Williams compilation for PlayStation, Eugene Jarvis (Defender/Robotron) gives interviews about the early days.

Sorry, cant remember much more, too pi**ed!!!!

: I was sitting here watchin Cartoon Network and drinking some wine, and these old cartoons really make me think of old skool games..a lot! And I am wondering if there any interviews with guys that invented games in the day about their influences and how they came up with concepts, etc... I swear lots of them had to be influenced by cartoons. Well, we do have Popeye and other games that are obviously because of the cartoons.

: Anyway, weird thoughts. Just wondering.

: Later!
