: : Are you using advanceMAME/stretchMAME or something to display vertical games like Ms. Pac-Man? I didn't think they would fit horizontally on a TV without 'chopping-out' some detail.

: : Also, can you use the -vsync switch to get smoothe scrolling? If so, I realize this would only work on 60Hz games, but just wondered.

: : Thanks again

:
: I am using just plain DOS MAME b14. I, too, have heard many people complain about the chopped images with vertical games. For some reason, and this may not sound correct, I think the video card automatically adjusts for this.

: This is why I think this:
: I can only set the monitor to PC Monitor in the mame.cfg. If I try to use the TV setting, the image quality is terrible. Also, I have tried AdvanceMAME because I heard that it is supposed to be better for TV's and arcade monitors. Again, the image quality suffered quite a bit. Although, that could be due the complexity of setting up AdvanceMAME, and perhaps I didn't have it set up right.

: Anyway, seeing as I wasn't having any problems with the regular DOS MAME and all the games were playable at good resolutions, I quit experimenting.
