: I'm running in Dos - boot up with bootgui=0 win95

: what exactly is smartdrv and what is the correct way to put it in autoexec.bat and config.sys ???

: will this make screen shots load faster when browsing the menu in ArcadeOS ?

: Thanks !

Stupid is not asking when you need help. Smartdrv.exe is a disk cache. It makes more use of available upper memory for DOS programs so they run faster. Use it in Autoexec.bat The syntax is:

If you are using an upper memory manager like emm386.exe or qemm,

lh smartdrv.exe a- c+

If not, its:
smartdrv.exe a- c+

People will tell you there's a double_buffer parameter you can use running it in config.sys, DON'T USE IT THIS WAY.

You can also specify exactly how much of your RAM will be used for the cache, if not it will default to whatever it can get it's hands on. How much RAM do you have, and how is it allocated, that is, what are the config.sys and autoexec.bat settings?
