Thanks for the input.

: First, Tom61, thanks for all your posts. The questions you've raised, and the answers you provide, have been helpful.

: I, too, agree that planning and research is crucial for a successful project. Sure, I could have spent less and got an ArcadePC much quicker. But that misses the point entirely. *Creating* this beast was an integral part of my retrogaming experience. In hindsight, game playing was only part of my desire to build a arcade machine. And I appreciate my cabinet a lot because I have the bruises, cuts, paint-stained t-shirts, and lost sleep to show for it.

: Oh, and I'm also a more educated and well rounded person for it, too.

: You are on the money when you mention interpersonal skills (this group) and problem solving (the web).

: Unfortunately, with regard to your scholarship application, I probably go with the High School theme. Hear me out.

: Don't get me wrong. I am immensely proud of my cabinet. Next to my two wonderful daughters, its the best thing I've produced! ;)

: But think about the reactions of our friends when we tell them about our cabinet plans. Even they think we are a little nuts (OK, we are).

: How do you think a scholarship board would view such a topic? Unfortunately, they would probably see it as trivial kid's stuff. You'd REALLY have to sell them on the troubleshooting and technological achievements. It'd be tough, but not impossible.

: Best of luck on your project. And good luck with the scholarship. We have our fingers crosses.

: Joe
