EGA on arcade monitors stands for medium resolution, 25KHz horizontal refresh rate. Unlike PC EGA, arcade EGA is analog, and therefore unlimited colors.

Wombat Was Here, search for posts on medium res in the message board and the archives, medium res monitors aren't "plug-n-play" with PCs, you have to run special software to use them, just like standard res (CGA) monitors.
