First of all the connectors are different. EGA uses a 9 pin connector, VGA uses a 15 pin connector.
Although EGA is color based, it has very limited resolution, and colors. If memory serves, EGA 800x600 was only 16 colors!
In fact I doubt an EGA monitor or card have been made in ten years at least.
