I've tried 2 different brand TV's, and the difference was incredible...
27" Zenith s-video: completely unusable! Color bleed (red) was so bad that I couldn't make it through a single game.
27" Toshiba s-video: amazing! I have this running MAME through a TNT card next to a jamma cab with an arcade monitor. I'll bet you couldn't tell the difference. So far, nobody else has...
I've heard lots of people complain about using TV's, they probably just weren't using a decent one.
