I'm still at AOS 2.43 and Mame 0.36 for stability and speed - what's your opinion on later versions (i'd like to upgrade)

I could only get aos 2.43 to see mame files if I used mame .36, so that's where I am, but I'd really like to go to aos 2.45 and the latest mame beta, but I'm afraid I'll screw something up or mame beta wont do sound right, slow down, etc.... So, I'd like to gather opinions on these latest versions (like, dislike,hate,bugs,etc...)
