: : You want the stick as loose as possible, cause you dont want to have to 'fight' with the stick. A tough spring can make it hard to do small adjustments - and hold them there.

: : Im going to try to remove the spring on mine - to see if its better without one. I think it would be easier to hold the stick in the center than to force it out all the time.

: that's the conclusion i came to when i tried it out on Star Wars last night. with the wingman it's a bit of a pain, because most of the "spring" comes from the rubber collar (dust boot) at the base of the stick. somehow i ended up breaking the feet that hold the hat-swich to the pcb, but epoxy took care of that.

Hmm - I had one of those as well a long while back. You could always replace the boot with a cloth sewn version like the Race Drivin shiftet Boot.

Im going to hack a Cyborg 2000 stick by Saitek. They have a great radius and feel pretty smooth. But I think I will cut the center spring anyway for the extra control.

The only thinh I worry about is how to turn the stick -off- when not in use... Because I will have several controls interfaced with each other. Maybe I will just make a switch to cut the ground... or maybe something else.

Shouldnt be a problem for most people though.

Sincerely,
Xiaou2
