Well for me, I wanted it to look like the control panels in the arcades when I grew up. These used carriage bolts so guess what is going in mine?

: My opinion on this (as if it mattered) is that the bolt heads ugly-up the control panel and shouldn't be used. Instead, get some heavy-duty 3/4" wood screws and some washers and just go up from the bottom. Any amount of banging that would rip out heavy wood screws would probably break the plastic mounts for the joystick long before it became an issue.

: Now keep in mind that this goes for 3/4" PLYWOOD PANELS ONLY! If you are using MDF or some other kind or particle board, the bolts start to make more sense. But I personally wouldn't use that kind of material for a control panel anyway.
