Here is a closeup of one side of my control panel. Note, the bold heads around the spinner have embossed letter on them...

I was in a rush when I put those in. If you hunt around, you can find perfectly smooth heads (like those around the joystick).

You can purchase them at most any hardware store. I got ALL of my 1/4" hardware at a farmers supply store (Theisens) where it is sold by the pound.

1/4" is the largest bolt that will fit through a joystick base (HAPP sticks anyway) They are probably bigger than you really need, but I tend to overbuild most of my projects. Length of course, will all depend on how thick your panel is. Mine are 1 1/2" long, going through 3/4" wood.
