Atari spinners/paddles work with Direct Pad Pro?

Anyone have any experience with using the Atari driving paddle with MAME? I've heard the driving paddle has full 360 degree rotation. Does it act exactly like a spinner?

And is it supported by Direct Pad Pro? Direct Pad Pro says it works with Atari devices, which would seem to mean it'll work with the spinner....

Anyway, any help definitely appreciated.
